Children’s Events: January to December 2015

JANUARY:

20th January: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Bear-hunt”: 10.15-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH:  For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older sibling are welcome… Act out scenes from Michael Rosen’s “We’re Going on a Bear-Hunt” on our forest wander and create your own bear face.

FEBRUARY:

17th February: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Carnival”: 10.15-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Seek out bright, playful objects on our nature trail and then make animal masks and feather hats to celebrate this time of year.

MARCH:

17th March: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Paper-making”: 10.15-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Look, see, touch and discover just how much there is around us in nature that we can recycle and use. Make paper from some of what you have found

APRIL:

14th April: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Signs of Spring”: 10.15-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Go in search of the signs of spring on our scavenger hunt. Start  planting your own seeds and flowers that you can nurture over the months to come.

MAY:

19th May: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Wild Flowers”: 10.15-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Get to know and recognise the blossoms, flowers and first flush of leaves on the trees around you. Make seasonal cards, collages and decorations from what you have found.

JUNE:

23rd  June: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Summer Solstice”: 10.15-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Celebrate the long days of summer on our mystery trail and  herb bouquets to take home with you.

JULY:

21st July: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Pond-Dipping”: 10.15-1.00pm Suntrap Education Centre, Church Road, High Beech: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Find out the secrets of your local pond and look closely at the creatures thriving there. Make your own dragon-flies and clay mini-beasts to take home with you.

AUGUST:

18th August : QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Light and Shadow”: 10.15-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Follow our butterfly trail while enjoying the play of light and shadow all around you. Make light catchers and your own luminous butterflies to take home with you.

SEPTEMBER:

22nd September : QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Foraging for Colour”: 10.45-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH:: For children up to age 8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Discover the natural pigments in nature and then use these to make your own drawings and paintings on paper, card and pebbles.

OCTOBER:

17th October : QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Drawing from Nature”: 10.45-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH. For children up to age 8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome….  Identify and get to know the trees and leaves around you as they approach their full Autumn glow. Make rubbings, prints and collages and start your own nature scrapbook that you can keep returning to over the months to come.

NOVEMBER:

Older siblings are welcome…. See the beautiful shapes and contortions of tree bark and branches, the markings on stone and pebble and patterns of mud and leaf beneath your feet. Create your own rubbings, designs and sculptures from what you have discover.

DECEMBER:

15th December : QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “The Winter Solstice”: 10.45-1.00pm Hornbeam Learning Lodge, Pimp Hall Nature Reserve, Kings Road, E4 7HR: For children up to age 8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome…. Light up the dark days of winter by finding the curious and beautiful in nature all around you. Create your own seasonal decorations for the home

21st November: SINGING AND WELL-BEING, “A Fundraising Concert in aid of Walk the Loop”: 7.30 – 9.30pm Hinde Street Methodist Church, 19 Thayer Street, London, W1U 2QJ. Start your weekend on a happy note by joining us for a recital of duets, trios, quartets and solo arias by Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and other much loved composers.

29th November: QUARTERLY COMMITTEE MEETING: 2.00-5.00pm 23 Queensbury, Ardmore Lane, Buckhurst Hill IG9 5RY: A review of progress to date at a strategic and operational level.

OCTOBER:

11th October: OPEN DAY, 10.00-4.00pm Suntrap Education Centre, Church Road, High Beach, Loughton, Essex, IG10 4AJ.  Find out just how much Suntrap can offer in terms of enriching our understanding and enjoyment of the world around us.

21st October: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Seeds and leaves”: 10.00-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome….  Identify and get to know the trees and leaves around you as they approach their full Autumn glow. Create your own leaf collages, mobiles and musical instruments from what you find.

30th October: HALLOWEEN PARTY, 5.30 – 11.00: The General, 229 High Road, Ilford, IGI INE. Help us fundraise while having an entertaining time with family and friends.

5.45-7.45pm – “Witches make their own hat”. Some creative family fun for children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome.

7.45-8.45pm – “JJ Memphis Elvis Tribute Show”.

9.00-11.00pm – “DJ Aivan-E and Karaoke”.

12th July: RESTORATIVE WALK: 10.00-4.00pm West Wickham Common to Hamsey Green:  For adults who are up to a long, calming and invigorating walk. Enjoy wide panoramas, secret woodlands and the gardens at Heathfield House.

22nd July: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Light and Shadow”: 10.00-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Discover the play of light and shadow all around you. Look, seek and be surprised. Then, based on what you have found, create your own keepsakes of the day including a shadow portrait and light catcher.

AUGUST:

9th August: RESTORATIVE WALK: 10.00-4.00pm Hamsey Green to Banstead Downs: For adults who are up to a long, calming and invigorating walk. Enjoy varied and picturesque landscapes including chalk downs and a visit to Oak Place.

19th August: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Grasslands”: 10.00-1.00pm The View, Rangers Road, Chingford, E4 7QH: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. With nets, magnifying glasses, bug pots and a treasure box on hand, explore what secrets the grasslands around you hold and then craft what you have found into intriguing shapes, patterns and collages

24th August: QUARTERLY COMMITTEE MEETING: 2.00-5.00pm 23 Queensbury, Ardmore Lane, Buckhurst Hill IG9 5RY: A review of progress to date at a strategic and operational level.

SEPTEMBER:                      

13th September: SPONSORED WALK: 10.00-5.00pm Enfield Lock to The View, Chingford: Join us as we step out to raise funds for our services. A highlight will be visiting Suntrap Education Centre where we can pause awhile and enjoy a celebratory picnic.

16th September: QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, “Harvest”: 10.00-1.00pm Suntrap Education Centre, Church Road, High Beach, Loughton, Essex, IG10 4AJ: For children aged 0-8 and their parent-carers. Older siblings are welcome. Discover the bounties of harvest-time all around you in an environment that invites discovery and a joy in learning wherever you turn.

A morning devoted to planning and partnership-building for Walk the Loop and other individuals / organisations: together we can explore how to provide an excellent quality of service that provides holistic support for children and their families

Discover the home of William Morris, a haven to the arts and crafts movement. Then enjoy a delightfully picturesque walk taking you from Foots Cray to Petts Wood.

20th May: PLANNING MEETING,The View, Chingford: 10.00-1.oopm: coming together to plan our next steps for our  parent/carer support Programme: “Quality Time Together”
