DSC_1838DSC_1867Two trees in gardens local to me are now grabbing my intention. They remind me of pantomime figures flaunting their bright, gaudy costume of leaves.

I have been puzzling over what they are called and have only just discovered their names. Both are trees originating from far overseas, adopted here because they are so decorative.

One is the Sumac Tree with dripping tentacles of bright orange and red leaves. The other is the red gum. I am collecting and pressing leaves from this tree to capture their shiny smooth texture and starry shapes.
